WoW Auctioneer: The Gold Equalizer

The WoW Auctioneer add-on is, no doubt, hugely in-debt to Blizzard’s economic realism in the land of Azeroth. Unlike some other games where the in-game money is either useless or easily obtainable through outside sources like eBay, Blizzard wisely placed a large and correct value on the gold in WoW while placing strict rules about how it could be obtained. In doing so, they have crafted one of the most coherant economic virtual worlds in existance.

“Its no deep dark secret that World of Warcraft PvP is based more on what gear a player has then their skill at the game. Players strive to improve their gear first since it makes the greatest impact on their chance to win. Only after obtaining the top tier of arena or raid gear do most players even stand a chance of moving through the rankings.” – wowgold-heaven*

Alas, for many of us who cannot afford the time to have second job inside the game, the WoW Auctioneer has provider a much needed answer for us: Make gold while you are away.

I’m sure you now understand my zeal for this amazing tool. It enables those among us who cannot compete with the utterly-hard-core-stat-grinding-behemoths to make the gold we need to equip our character to stand a chance against them!

Of course, there is a whole other level to gold-making than the WoW Auctioneer, but it is such an excellent tool for newbies and experienced players alike! So make sure to grab the WoW Auctioneer if you haven’t already!

Grinding For Gold + WoW Auctioneer = Gold Out Your Ears (however long and bouncy they may be!)

Grinding for gold is the most basic and most common form of gold farming. Since this is the most basic form of gold farming it does get a lot of attention from all sorts of players. However most players never end up grinding out the amount of gold they should or selling off there loot for a profit (thanks to the WoW Auctioneer). Heck, many players are still trying to sell they loot off to NPCs! It’s very easy to farm up to 250g/hour now with the Burning Crusade. The mobs drop a lot more coin, the items that drop vendor for a higher price.

On top of this you will be getting greens, blues and epics that will be selling for an even larger price then before. You can sell your items for a lot more gold because the average drop rates coin itself has been increased. This means there are a lot more players out there with money to throw around.

Knowing the correct places to farm and know how to farm are key assets when it comes to playing World of Warcraft effectively. Many players make minor mistakes when it comes to farming that it puts them far behind the rest of the competition. And, of course, combining this knowledge with the power of the WoW Auctioneer addon can yield truly jaw-dropping results.

Downtime is one of the most major mistakes players make when grinding gold. Downtime is the amount of time during grinding that you spend NOT killing other mobs. This includes running to the next mob, sitting for a drink, chatting to your friends, not chain-casting your next spell (casting the spell as soon as it’s available) all of these things will drop your gold per hour rate. The most common downtime is sitting down to eat or drink. Every glass has a favorable “Grinding spec” and if you plan to farm for gold for a certain amount of time, it’s well worth the money to re-spec to.

Every time you take a seat to drink or eat, you are knocking anywhere between 15-30 seconds off of your killing time. Let’s say you can kill 5 mobs in a row without having to sit and drink or eat. That means, every time you kill 100 mobs you are spending 10 minutes on your butt. That’s a pretty large amount of time, and most classes can’t even make it 5 mobs with some of the specs.

For instance, my Mage was Fire Spec for a while until I realized I was only getting about 3 kills on average in before I had to take a drink. I switched to frost, which is a premiere grinding spec and it got me up to 8 kills before I sat down. This is a great rate because I nearly cut my downtime to 2/3^rd of the rate it was.

So next time you go out grinding, remember that downtime is a key penalty to the gold rate you pull in. You can easily double your gold rate over night by choosing the right spec for your character. And never, ever… EVER forget to sell your loot at a good price with the WoW Auctioneer.

New WoW Auctioneer Blog

I’ve played World of Warcraft (WoW) since late beta (before it was released) and have had a great time in-game.

But, I was always poor. It seems that every time Blizzard released some new item, mount, or something, it would always be out of the reach of my gold bag!

So, that’s when it started. I rolled a character who’s sole purpose in life (un-life, in his case) was to “play” the Auction House.

It wasn’t until I adopted the WoW Auctioneer into my tools and learned how to use effectively that things really began to change, however.

Since then, I am happy to report, gold isn’t a problem .

So this blog is where I have decided to share my techniques and the techniques of others (as I pick them up).

I hope this blog will serve as your guide to a much “larger” world… called the Auction House.
